I’m old

It’s official. I am antiquated. I just went to people.com and I haven’t a freaking clue who half these people are. Makes it a lot easier to read something else.

Thank God Rbelle called and could fill me in.

Yawn

There is not enough coffee in the world, is what I’m saying. Hubby and I were up from 12:45 until 3am last night with screaming, crying Baba O’Riley, who was happy and content to be held and rocked but when we put him down in his crib, he’d scream. SCREAM. He had Motrin, as we know he’s cutting a bunch of teeth all at once, and he was definitely tired, but ultimately after 3am, we shut his door, our door, turned off the monitor in the kitchen, put the pillows over our heads and let him cry it out. Not Fun.

Then, when I was up at 6 and getting dressed, I heard a car wreck outside my window, so I threw on a robe and ran barefoot with the phone out into the street to make sure people were ok. They were fine, but I’m sure I was a hot mess running up the road barefoot in a blue fluffy robe talking on a cordless phone with wet hair and half a face of makeup. Hawt, I tell you. That might have been 60% of my available energy for the day.

So now I am on a hunt for hyper hydration, coffee, and general awakeness. I doubt I’ll find it. Maybe I can get someone to tap a vein.

Gum

I am addicted to this gum.

That is all.

Bite Sized Blog Entries

Little entries as I think of them to get back in the habit of random blogging:

I use Dove Cucumber and Green Tea deodorant because Dove is the only such product I can use without sending my skin into complete hysteria. Cucumber and green tea sounds lovely, but let me be honest with you, and with anyone from Dove who might also be reading: it smells like watermelon. Don’t be fooled. Cucumber and green tea = Bubblicious Watermelon for your underarms. This is not necessarily a good thing for anyone standing near me.

Home Againt Home Again

Vacation is wonderful. Air travel is not. Air travel with two car seats is not. Air travel with two exhausted children, two carseats, plus luggage is uber shitful, but we’re rested and happy, and even somewhat tan.

The gulf coast of Florida is now my favorite place to be, because the water is calm and warm and the sand is like ground silk. Baba and Freebird had a wonderful time, but more importantly became friends with one another, which makes me so happy I can’t even tell you. Hubby and I relaxed despite Baba’s insistence that he WOULD NOT SLEEP and we COULD NOT MAKE HIM, and yesterday I spent a wonderful 2 hours on the sand, reading, swimming, and generally doing nothing. Bliss. I floated by myself in the gulf, ears underwater, hands under my head, toes in the sun - so relaxed I was amazed the water held me up.

Freebird and Baba shared a room (it connected to ours) and on the 3rd night, Freebird insisted that he nap next to Baba’s pack n play, and that he switch to the bed closer to Baba’s, so they could be closer together. Some of the best mornings were all of us cuddled in the bed together, watching tv and drinking milk or coffee (depending on how old you were) and slowly booting up. I’m not going to forget the child friendliness of that part of Florida for a long time, and I’m already plotting to get us all back there as soon as possible.

And of course, if you know me in real life, you can probably imagine how shocked I am that the week I chose to take off was such a tumultuous one. holy shit.

Tomorrow may be a long day, but I’m uploading vacation pictures now, and am therefore so very happy to relive the past 4 days.

Florida

Dear Florida:

It’s hot and sunny and you are so kid friendly I want to move here about 40 years before I am required by Jewish law to do so. I get to the hotel: toys for my children. We go to Chik-fil-a for lunch: toys for my children. We go to the freaking Publix grocery store: coloring books for my children.

I think you must be the most kid friendly place I have been in a long long time. AND you have beaches where us early risers can watch the pelicans having breakfast.

thanks for being awesome.
